Show BOHEMIAN GIRL MUSICAL TREAT Crowded Houses Greet Springville Spring-ville High School Students Stu-dents in Opera. Surely those who failed to see the "Bohemian Girl" Balfe's beautiful beauti-ful opera as put on by the Springville Spring-ville high school, missed one of the musical treats of the season. Crowded houses in two regular performances and one matinee gave ample evidence that the people were highly pleased. Miss Lola Boyer as Arlino, gave a fine interpretation of the beautiful beauti-ful character, she was in fine voice, her rich soprano in mellow sweetness sweet-ness captivating the audience. Her artistic expression and natural grace made her seem born for the part. Miss Blanche McBeth, ns the Gypsy Queen, though a new nrtist to Sprinyville patrons, by her drn-matic drn-matic art, and clear ringing tones, soon won a place in their hearts. Kolfe Pratt, though young, is a most promising lyric tenor, full of emotional fervor, his melodious tones portrayed a young patriot burning with love of his country, as the lover, his plaintive tones could not be excelled. His "Then You'll Remember Me," was especially especial-ly good. Cnrl Christcnsen as Devils Hoof, with his deep baritone, acted his part well. His voice gave evidence of training. He is a natural singer. Elmo Coffman, as Count Arnheim played the part of the bereaved father like a finished actor. His full well trained voice, revealing a wenlth of culture. Lowry Anderson, nephew of the Count, not only sang well but acted his part most admirably. The only comment unfavorable being, he was too good looking for the part. The chorus was well balanced and showed the result of rigorous work. The orchestra played well. Too much praise can not be given M. L. Done, conductor, for giving the people such nn excellent rendition rendi-tion of this favorite opera. It is hoped that there might be more of this high class entertainment. |
