Show A JOURNEY TO GLENGARRY By a Herald Reporter. During the past few months so r-mch hfs been said about the wonderful won-derful possibilities of Gleengarry Utah's newest resort that your , correspondent made a trip to look it j over for the benefit of Herald read-i read-i ers. ; In case there nre some who do not know where and what Glengarry is, we merely state that Glengarry is the name of a pleasure resort now , being constructed near the State Fish Hatchery between Provo and Springville. The name Glen Garry is of Scotch origin and means "Ever Green Glen." j It has been known for years that I there were warm springs in the Old Mill pond, east and ' south of the Fish Hatchery. However, until about a year ago, nobody seemed to recognize their, possibilities as the foundation of a resort. At that time filings were made on the water and plans laid for utilizing utiliz-ing the same. A tunnel was driven intot he hillside to a depht of thirty-five thirty-five feet. Numerous springs were tapped and now a surprisingly beautiful beau-tiful stream of warm mineral water pushes forth and will be used for the benefit of a pleasure loving public. No the water is not hot but warm enough. It has a temperature of 70 degrees just right for healthful health-ful summer bathing. It will be piped a distance of 1400 feet to a big pool 100 by 60 feet. During the summer a winter pool will bo built. Preparations have been made to heat the water for wtiifor hnthinf. From a health standpoint the water is very valuable. According to tests made in the chemistry departments de-partments of the Springville high school, the water contains sulpher, magnesia, glauber salts, sodium carbonate and iron hydroxide. Its possibilities as a health sanitarium sani-tarium are causing considerable comment. We are very much surprised to mte the progress made in the construction con-struction of the big dance pavillion. It will be a magnificent building 70 feet by 145 feet, with a maple dancing danc-ing floor 60 by 106 feet A first class confectionery and lunch room will be built ia the front of the hail. The roof is the "tabernacle" "taber-nacle" type and with the specially constructed music room, it is expected ex-pected that the accoustic properties will be as nearly perfect aa can be made. The walls are nearly up. It dosen't seem possible that a construction con-struction could go on so rapidly. We have never seen a busier group of workmen and everyone going at it with 100 per cent efficiency. effic-iency. Inquiry led us to the remarkable remark-able fact that every worker on the job is a stock holder In the company a thing we never heard of before. No wonder they work like they do. A month ago we doubted if the place would be ready for Decoration Day the date announced for its opening. New we know it will. It looks, too, like It is going to be one of the most popular places in the state. |
