The week hep lining April 27, 1024, luis by order of t lie Springville Spring-ville city council. been set apart and (U'siirnntcd "Cleiin-up Week," during whieh time all citizens arc expected to concentrate their minds and efforts ef-forts in cleaning and beautifying their homes and surroundings and I thereby make our city more attractive attrac-tive as well as sanitary. In order that the significance of this move might be mure deeply I felt and that no detail may be left undone, I, G. It. Mayeock, mayor of Springville, by virtue of the authority author-ity vested in me. do hereby declare Wednesday afternoon, May 30, 1924, n legal half holiday, to be observed as special Clean-up day. I recommend recom-mend that all business houses be closer and secular pursuits lie suspended sus-pended on this afternoon and that the people of Springville concent rale on the unfinished details of this general clean-up. The following program is announced an-nounced by the clean-up committee: Au announcement to be made from churches and other public gatherings gather-ings Sunday. April 27: clean-up begins be-gins Monday, April 2S. and continue! con-tinue! to Saturday. May :;. Everybody is supposed to take an active part. General clean-up Wednesday, April 30. All property owners are expected to clean their walks and yards and place refuse in containers contain-ers of a size easily loadable, and convenient for hauling away by city teams. All refuse from back yards, such ns manure, ashes, etc., must he hauled away at the owner's expense, ex-pense, not later than April 30. The following announcement is made by the Springville high school: The students of the high school will devote Wednesday forenoon, fore-noon, April 30, to cleaning up the high school campus. At 1 o'clock a. m. there will be an assembly in the high school auditorium at which time the awards will be made to the "S" men. Immediately after the assembly at about 2 p. m., the hitrh school inter-class track and field meet will take place on the , campus. I A big attraction will follow the track and field meet of the high : school when the high school fac-i fac-i ulty will meet the Springville business busi-ness men in a baseball game. There will also be a . half-mile relay race between the high school faculty and the business men. All citizens are urged to attend the program and witness the outdoor out-door activities. |
