Show Brian Head Council sees varied agenda and only had this one last hurdle to overcome before starting work on his 18-unit project. Burt Nichols, also having received Planning Commission approval for his "Navajo Ridge" subdivision, was on Tuesday's agenda to apply for Town Council approval. Nichols proposed posting land in lieu of cash to satisfy the improvements bond. As this substitution is not directly referred to in the town's ordinances, Nichols request was tabled until City Atorney Will Bishop and Nichol's attorney have been consulted. Bob Goldhirsch reported on and gave assurance to the Council that the all-volunteer all-volunteer fire department depart-ment is working to provide "more than adequate service for the residents." He told the Council of the fire department's efforts to develop an implementation im-plementation plan for the town using location maps. Goldhirsch was informed in-formed by one of the council members that the state Provides a computer com-puter service for just that problem. In other business Town Treasurer Barbara Emenegger reported to the Council of her repeated vftortst, collect water service fees and asked for advice from the Council. Councilman H.C. Deutschlander read through the ordinances and discovered the only recourse that the Town has is to send the offending of-fending party a thirty day notice of cancellation of service. Lien possibilities are also going to be thoroughly checked. The Council granted conceptual approval for Dave Smith's "South-view" "South-view" condominium project. Smith, soon to be a Cedar City resident, had already received approval from the Planning Commission By JACLYN POWELL Record Correspondent After a two week hiatus, the Brian Head Town Council resumed meetings May 26, centering cen-tering on cleaning up problems that have long been a thorn in the side of the town and its residents. Since Brian Head's inception the town has been subjected to sketchy phone service, with several businesses having to share the same phone and no in-resident service. It was therefore no surprise about the speed with which the council approved the request of Mountain Bell to construct con-struct a service building in the Woodbridge subdivision sub-division and at the same time grant a permit to Western Rock to begin the side preparations for that project. One of the other "thorns" in Brian Head's side is its television reception, or lack of it. Councilman Gene Buttery But-tery gave the Council a report on the current status of the television equipment and pointed out that all the equipment was in need of cleaning and repairing: Buttery then asked the Council if it would support having a survey and estimate done by a communications firm from Las Vegas. The Council was vocal and unanimous in urging Buttery to aquire the services from the Las Vegas firm. Assistant Fire Chief |
