The magazine reports that an astonishing number of girls regard re-gard churches and church social affairs as fine places to meet desirable men. Men found at these places are not only of the higher type and earnest, but, adds the magazine, the church atmosphere is conducive to serious seri-ous thinking about marriage. "One point several of the girls made," states the article, "was that the larger, more glamorous cities were actually less favorable favor-able for marriage-minded girls than smaller towns. This is not only because there are actually actual-ly a higher proportion of men in small towns, but it is easier to meet the men." WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO CATCH A HUSBAND? The American Magazine (September) (Sep-tember) asked that question of a hundred girls, pursuing such careers as modeling, stenography stenogra-phy and selling in cities scattered scat-tered across the country, and their answers were varied to say the least. The girls pretty generally agree that the best asset for catching the interest of men is a sunny disposition. Surprisingly, Surprising-ly, being attractive was not regarded re-garded as being all-important. Of course, the attribute of good looks can't be denied, but the girls think that neatness and cleanliness are more important. Be Natural It's one thing to get the attention at-tention of a man and another to get him thinking seriously about you as a partner in marriage, mar-riage, the girls say. The technique tech-nique in this is for a girl to be her natural, easy-going self, "being "be-ing interested in what he is interested in-terested in, but in a genuine rather than in a sticky, charm-school charm-school way." The reason some girls lose out time after time in marital sweepstakes is, in the opinion of half of those questioned, that they try too hard to get the boyfriend boy-friend to the parson.
