There she walked off with top honors and Thursday evening, Aug. 31, was crowned "Mrs. Salt Lake City'' by Mayor Earl J. Glade. Thursday Mrs. Pace left with her husband, William Pace, for Asbury Park, N. J., where the will compete for the Mrs. America Amer-ica 1950 title, along with winners win-ners from the other 47 states. Contest was sponsored locally by Beers-Bigelow and KSL-TV. Each Thursday for the past 13 weeks judges have selected a weekly winner to compete in the finals. Judging was on the basis of homemaking and appearance. ap-pearance. The vivacious brunette scored high with judges in the finals. She dances beautifully . . . teaches teach-es tap and ballet, in fact, three days a week in Murray and Kamas. She also garnered points for her crochet work and a delicate deli-cate pair of earrings. She makes her own clothes as well as those of her daughter, Christine, aged nine months. DRUM MAJORETTE Mrs. Pace is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Gfl'ubb, Sr.,' 1137 Kensington Ave. Mr. i Grubb is commander of Sugar j House's Post 62. Virginia attended at-tended the Emerson grade school and Irving Junior High, lor several years she was majorette ma-jorette and assistant drum major ma-jor for the post's drum and bugle corps. Her last appearance appear-ance with the local outfit was at the parade July 24. The Pace's live at 149 P St. While they are east daughter Christine will stay with Mr. and Mrs. Grubb.
