The following students were preyed pre-yed with awards, pins, and scholarships at the Honor Day program: The social service pin, given by i ,he St George Chamber of Com-' Com-' Lrce to a student of the gradu-i gradu-i ",!, class who has rendered the service to the school and J immunity during the two years of college work, was presented to LaVoy Esplin, student body presi-'J presi-'J dent.-The pin was presented by R. ' Reber, president of the St. t George Chamber of Commerce. i College valedictorians are Stan-t Stan-t lev Schmutz and LaVoy Esplin rto tied for the position. Stanley is will deliver the valedictory address at the baccalaureate exercises and - uvoy.will deliver the address at the commencement exercises., ::i The Dixie junior college schol-r-i arship was presented to Fern Starr and Phoebe Lytle, with ? Floyd Atkin, third alternate, and "a Leila Hallmark, fourth alternate. Clayton Prince received the lower division scholarship pin with a full tuition scholarship at the college m next year. The Pymn scholarship was pre- anted to Pershing and LeGrande N'elson. Ray Schmutz and Shirl Pitchforth were alternates. Dramatic art pin, given for worthy performance in dramatic art, was presented to Emily i Brooks. The student body music pin, as well as the music department pin, were both awarded to McKay Neilson. The following received medals in debating: Charles Pickett was the outstanding out-standing college debater this year winning the John T. Woodbury Jr ' extemporaneous speaking contest pin, the Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Cox pin, and the college debate pin. Ruth Milne received a ring repre-J senting two years in debating, and a pin for the winning of the Washington Wash-ington Natal Day oration. A pin was received by Edwin Lymin for the winning of the Dixie junior college oratorical contest sponsored spons-ored by the American Legion Auxiliary. Aux-iliary. Paul Chadburn received both the Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Cox pin, and the high school debate pin, for his outstanding work in high school debate. The following follow-ing debaters received trold "D" pins: Helen Adair, Evans Woodbury, Wood-bury, and Abner DeMille of the college; and Gail Heaton, Esther Woodbury, and David Ruesch of the high school. Awards were presented in the Agricultural department to the following students; Bank of St. George award to Duane Esplin. F. F. A. public speaking award, Justin Tolton; award for best article published in the chapter, Future Farmer Bulletin, Bulle-tin, Grant McMullin; award for poultry judging, Earl Hafen and Grant McMullin; Mr. and Mrs. P. D. Spillsbury fountain pen award, Earl Hafen; scholarship at the Utah State Agricultural college was received by DeVere McAllister. McAllis-ter. A scholarship award to the University of Utah given by the Union Pacific was awarded to Darwin Dar-win Gubler. Awards of the Biological science department were: A work scholarship in the biological bio-logical department of the Brigham Young university, LaVoy Esplin'; Biological assistant of the Dixie junior college for next year, Floyd Atkin; Mr. and Mrs. D. Elden Beck award, Irvin McArthur; geology ge-ology award, Virginia Prince. Physical science wards: Mr. and Mrs. Joseph K. Nich-oles Nich-oles award, Richard Haaga; Mr. and Mrs. Maurice J. Miles award, Stanley Schmutz; awards for outstanding out-standing work in physical science, Viron Jones and Clayton Prince. Home economics awards, Velva Staheli, Elaine Hafen, Marie Mich-elson, Mich-elson, Gwen . Turner, Adrene McArthur, Mc-Arthur, Florence Leavitt, Agusta Gould, Afton Schmutz, Vivian Ren-cher, Ren-cher, Lila Hall, LeOra Morris, and Verl Paxman. . Award for outstanding out-standing graduate i n clothing, Audrey Burgess; award to outstanding out-standing student in high school clothing, Velva Atkin. Girls activity awards: Amitia club awards for Girls' Day poem and story contest winners, win-ners, Alice Lowe and Marjorie Burgess; Girls' basketball award of a silver loving cup, Helen Seaman, Sea-man, Ruby Savage, Emily Brooks, Maxine Hafen, Verde Washburn, Helen Adair, and Leda Heaton.
