Show Final Rites for Mrs. Margaret Cragun Held Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Marg-aret Cragun, Dixie pioneer, who died at 2:30 Tuesday morning following fol-lowing a lingering illness, were held in the St. George stake Tabernacle Tab-ernacle at 4:30 Wednesday afternoon after-noon under the direction of Dr. W. C. Cox of the West ward bishopric. Speakers were Pres. W. O. Bent-ley. Bent-ley. Mrs. Lutie Lytic, Isaiah Cox, and George Worthen. All were life-long acquaintances of the deceased de-ceased and were high in their praise of her fine qualities of character char-acter and her accomplishments in (Continued on page eight) Margaret Cragun !:..:- '. Her father moved vvilh his family to New Harmony where he followed his occupation as hlaeksmilh. She was married February 22, 1K71 to Elisha C'rat-un and they were sealed after the dedication of the St. ".eoi'L,'e Temple in January Jan-uary of 1877. They were the parents par-ents of three children. Two of these J. R. and Mrs. Edna Dennett Den-nett of St. George are now living. . J. Ii. was in Salt Lake City at the 1 time of her death and arrived home Wednesday evening. I Mrs. Cragun was a faithful Lat-ler-Day Saint and had a remarkable remark-able knowledge of the early history his-tory of Dixie. Her children have always enjoyed hearing her tell stories of early days here. She served as President of the Third ward Primary for a time and was a Relief society teacher for over 12 years. She was a member of the Daughters of the Pioneers and at the services were members of the county camp and the Foster camp who stood at attention while the casket passed by. Besides her two children she is survived by 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also two sisters, Mrs. Mary A. Perkins of St. George and Mrs. Descret Hancock Han-cock of Deseret. George Dodds and son, Glen and a grandson, John Owens of Pan-guitch Pan-guitch were in attendance at the services. |
