Show L D. S. Tabernacle Choir to Sing In Zion and on Temple Grounds Here Largest Crowd In History Of State Expected to Gather Gath-er At Zion to Hear Choir Four hundred members of the L. D. S. Tabernacle choir of Salt Lake City will broadcast over a national hook-up from the base of the Great White Throne on Sunday, May 30. Following this they will be brought to St. George where they will present a concert on the Temple grounds. The religious re-ligious meeting in St. George will commence at 4 p. m., and will be approximately one hour long, lt will , be under the direction of Pres. Heber J. Grant. The broadcast in Zion National Park will be of ninety minutes Muration. It is to be divided into ''three periods of thirty minutes, states- R. M. Reber, president of the local Chamber of Commerce. The first hour is to be broadcast over the coast-to-coast network of the. Columbia Broadcasting system via KSL'. The balance of thirty minutes will be presented over KSL. The program will start at 9:30. The first thirty-minute program pro-gram will be the regular broadcast broad-cast of the Tabernacle choir. The second thirty minutes will be L. D. S. Church of the Air program. This program will consist of an opening choir number, the address of President Heber J. Grant, other choir numbers, President Grant's introduction of Harry W. Colmery, National Commander of the American Am-erican Legion, guest speaker, who will give a Memorial Day message to the nation, and a concluding number by the choir. The third half hour will be from 10:30 to 11 a. m., and will be under the direction of radio station KSL. Stanford of Arizona Carl R. Gray, president of the Union Pacific railroad, W. M. Jeffers, executive vice-president of the U P-. and numbers by the Thirty-eighth Infantry band, will be presented. Largest Crowd Because the crowd expected will probably be the largest ever assembled as-sembled at one point in the state of Utah a loud speaker system will be installed. Supt. P. P. Pa-traw Pa-traw will be in charge of the placement of planking in the natural na-tural amphitheatre at the base of the Great White Throne for the seating of the crowd. In cooperation cooper-ation with Superintendent Patraw, W. P. Rogers will arrange for the placement of 150 chairs for reserved-seat section". Personal invitations in-vitations will be extended to Governors Gov-ernors of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, officials of Cedar City and St. George Chamber of Commerce, authorities of the L. D. S. Church, Governor Blood, Governor Stanford and other state officials and officers of the American Ameri-can Legion. Transportation St. George is being asked to con-" con-" tribute fifty cars to assist in transit trans-it porting the choir. The Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce is spend-i spend-i ing $4,000 to finance the Great J White Throne broadcast. The J group will leave Salt Lake on May 29 at 10 p. m., and will arrive in Cedar City at 5 a. m., Sunday morning. Those who take their k cars from here will have to leave here about 4 a. m. Hurricane has agreed to assist in the transporta-7 transporta-7 tion to the extent of furnishing fifteen cars. |
