Show Funerals HELENE VIERTEL ZIRKER MYTON Mrs. Helen Viertel Zirker, 72, died at 11:30 p. m., Jan. 22 in Salt Lake City at the home of her 'daughter, Mrs. Warren War-ren Odekirk. She was born June 4, 1875 in Berlin, Germany, a i daughter of Julius and Wilhel- mina Viertel. At the age of 12 years she came to the United States with her parents, settling in Paj'son. She married John Zirker Zir-ker at Payson, July 3, 1894, and moved to the Uintah Basin in 1916. Mrs. Zirker has made her home here until shortly after Mr. Zirker's death on May 6, 1947. Because of ill health she has been living with her daughter daugh-ter during the past few months. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Latter-Day Saints. Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed Tuesday at 1 p. m. in the My-ton My-ton Ward chapel, with Bishop Syerl Dennis in charge. Musical selections consisted of vocal solos by Mary Ellen Stewart and Floyd Ross. Leonard Harris and Harold Eldredge were the speakers. Invocation In-vocation was offered by Leo Elder El-der and the benediction by Clarence Clar-ence Liddell. Prelude and post-lude post-lude music was played by Mrs. Syerl Dennis. Interment in the Roosevelt cemetery was under the direction jof Dillman funeral home, with Lawrence Zirker dedicating the ; graye. Mrs. Zirker Is survived by 5 sons and a daughter; Julius, John and Edward Zirker, of Arcadia; Lawrence Zirker, Salt Lake City; Willis Zirker, San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Elsa Odekirk, Salt Lake; 24 grandchildren and 1 greatgrandchild. ANNA S. R. LEMON IOKA Funeral services were conducted January 21 at 12:30 p.m. in the Peoa Ward chapel for Mrs. Anna S. R. Lemon, formerly former-ly of Ioka, who died January 18 'at Peoa, following a lingering illness. Musical selections were sung by an Ioka quartet composed of James F. Lemon, Paul B. Lemon, Lem-on, Garrett Stone and Ned Gines, accompanied by Mrs. Gladys Dart, with solo numbers by Myr-la Myr-la Atkinson and Garrett Stone. The invocation was offered by Arthur Marchant and the benediction bene-diction by Melvin J. Benson. A "Tribute to our Mother," written by Reed Lemon, was read - by Karl Lemon. John E. Webb, Wil-lard Wil-lard Day and G. Reed Marchant were the speakers.. Burial was in the Marion cemetery ceme-tery with Del Marchant dedicating dedicat-ing the grave-. Pallbearers were four brothers of Mrs. Lemon, and two grandsons. MAURICE WILLIAM MONKS MYTON Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 2 p. m. in the Myton Ward chapel for Maurice William Monks, 47, who died Sunday at his home in Salt Lake City, following fol-lowing an illness of seyeral months. Mr. Monks was born March 17, 1901, in Park City, a son of Thomas and Millie Nielson Monk. He spent hia early youth at Mt. Emmons, where his father engaged in farming. More recently recent-ly Mr. Monks was interested in the sheep business and operated the Dinosaur Club at Rangely, Colo., in partnership with his brother, Louis Monks. About three months ago he established his home in SalfLake City. He is survived by two daugh- ters, Mrs. Shirley Chatwin, of Tabiona, and Miss Janice Monks, of San Francisco; 2 brothers, Frank Monks, of Myton, and Louis Monks, of Rangely, Colo.; and 2 grandchildren. Funeral services were under the direction of Bishop Syerl Dennis and consisted of vocal selections by Floyd Ross and Mrs. Earl Gingell and Mrs. Aften Richens. Invocation was offered by Clarence Liddell and the ben-edictifan ben-edictifan by Wilmer Murray. Speakers included H. L. Crapo and Hale Holgate. Burial was in the Roosevelt cemetery with Louis Pratt dedicating dedi-cating the grave. |
