Show Sports Roundup By Bill Nelson Uintah's 31 to 30 victory over Roosevelt Rough Riders leaves the top place in a three-way tie as Uintah Division play reaches the half-way mark. Roosevelt looked like a ghost town Friday night when the fans turned out en masse to follow their favorite to Vernal lo see them drop a heartbrcaker to the fighting Utes in the last 10 seconds sec-onds of play. The Rough Riders looked like champions in the first half. Their defense was flawless. A full 10 minutes of play went by before the Utes got their first field goal. The score at the quarter was 8 to 1 and at the half 16 to 9 for Roosevelt. In the second half Uintah showed they had some ability at defense. Taking control of both backboards,' the fighting Utes nibbled away, at Roosevelt's lead while holding the Riders almost scoreless The Utes caught up half way in the last quarter and the last three minutes it was anyone's any-one's game as the lead changed almost as clockwork, as the two teams fought down the stretch. Roosevelt went in lead by one point just 10 seconds before the game ended. The Utes worked the ball up the floor fast and as Halstcad, Uto forward, set to shoot you could feel the shot was good. A clean earned basket that meant victory. Glealon and Clark were below par in their play. Both had bad colds. Tommy Timothy got the first four points, worked the backboards well and looked good while he was in. Without a doubt the start of the game was substitute guard Don Snyder. "Snyde," as he is called by his teammates, is the only sophomore on the squad. With half a chance in two more years, he will be one of the top performers in the State. Not only did Don lead the team in points from his guard position, but he set up play after play and his errorless passing was responsible for many of his team's points. His floor work and speed were outstanding. All in all "Snyde" turned in as near perfect ball playing as one will ever see on a high school court. Don is the i son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Snyder j of Roosevelt and a cousin to Co-Captain Co-Captain Joe Gleaton. In other division games, Duchesne Du-chesne beat Altamont 34 to 20 and Altcrra won over Tabiona 36 to 25.
