Show CLOSING LAW AIMS AT DELICATESSENS Proposed Bill Would Restrict Drug Stores to Sales of Medicines and Soda Fountain Drinks. Extension of the Sunday closing law to include meat markets, delicatessens and even retail dmj; fctores. exonpt as to medicines and soda fountains, is provided pro-vided in a bill introduced in the house yesterday afternoon by Representative Daisy C. Allen of Salt Lake county. Change iu the present law is 'made by adding meat market to section 4234 and by adding an additional paragraph to section 423o. This latter sectirn provides that the Sunday closing act shall not apply to restaurants and certain cer-tain other places of business. In ,he added paragraph the term restaurant is defined. It is provided that this term shall apply to such places of business as serve food prepared to be eaten on the premises. This definition, it is explained, eliminates elim-inates delicatessens, now classed as restaurants and permitted to be open on Sunday, from the restaurant class, and requires them to close. The added paragraph goes further to provide that retail drug stores rnav remain re-main open on Sunday for the purpose onlv of selling and dispensing drugs and medicines and such drinks and refreshments refresh-ments as are usually supplied at soda fountains.
