Contending that the livestock industry in Utah oan be benefited best by the organization of livestock associations for bettering the breeds, S. S. Jensen, secretary of the Ogden Packing k Provision company, made this industry a subject of additional addi-tional serious consideration, at today's sessions of the farmers' round-up. District Dis-trict organizations for co-operative de-yvelopment de-yvelopment have solved the livestock problem in other states, Mr. Jensen con-Mr con-Mr tended, and he urged the farmers of ' Utah tor their own betterment to con sider the plan here. Mr. Jensen talked on the general subject sub-ject of marketing. Others who considered consid-ered different phases of the same sub ject were Dr. K. J. Evans of the Utah Agricultural college, James A. Anderson, Ander-son, a canner of Morgan, and Mark H. Greene. Dr. E. G. Peterson, president of the . Utah Agricultural college, was j one of the principal speakers tonight, ; his subject being "What the Agricultural Agricul-tural College -Stands For." Mrs. Harriet Har-riet L. B. Darling, consulting housekeeper house-keeper of Brookline, Mass., also spoke at the conjoint evening meeting. Her subject was "Practical Economics and Legitimate Extravagances in the Home.",- For the housekeepers1 division of the week 's conference today 's programme brought one of the most distinguished lecturers of the meeting in Miss Alice Ravenhill, who is on a lecture tour of the United States, under auspices of the American Home Economics association. Before an audience of several hundred women in the Third ward meeting house this afternoon she discussed the subject "Characteristics and Growth of Childhood. Child-hood. ' ' The round-up and conference will be concluded tomorrow with a convention of the Utah state farm bureau in the afternoon, a banquet at the Weber club and addresses by prominent visitors in the evening. At the afternoon general session for farmers D. D. McKay, president presi-dent of the state bureau, will discuss the objects of that organization and Dr. R. J. Evans, in charge of county farm agent department of the college, will take un the subject "What Will Make Farm Bureau Work Successful?" Governor Simon Bamberger and for-nicr for-nicr Governor E. M. Ammons of Colo-rado Colo-rado will be the guests of honor at the banquet at 5 o'clock. It is expected w that approximately 1.30 guests will be preseut. There will be speeches by the Utah executive and also former Gover-nor Gover-nor Ammons at the tabernacle meeting "iin the evening. |
