Show GUYNEMER AGAIN MENTIONED IN FRENCH REPORT PARIS, Jan. 26, 12:45 p. m. For the t bird successive day Lieutenant George Guvnemer is mentioned In the communication communi-cation from the war office. Today's announcement an-nouncement credits him with having brought down an airplane on the Somme front. This brings up to twent y-einht the number of airplanes destroyed by this pilot. The war office announcement on aerial activities follows: On the Somme front yesterday Lieutenant George Guvnemer hroueht down within our lines at a point near Lifnieres his twenty-eighth German airplane. H has been con firmed that Lieu-tenant Lieu-tenant Herteaux during the day of January L'l brought dowji two enemy machines, which brings to nineteen the number of enemy machines destroyed de-stroyed by this pilot. A third" and a fourth enemy airplane, air-plane, a fter engagements in I he air with French pilots, have been brought I to earth. Fui t hermnre. it has been confirmed that the German uliplane which on January 23 was subjected to machine gun fire at close range by one of our machines was destroyed at a point north of Craonna. During the day of January 24, and also during the night of January 25-26, 25-26, French bombing squadrons conducted con-ducted the following aerial operations: Two hundred and ten kilos (462 pounds) of projectiles were thrown upon the railroad station at Brieulles, where an extensive fire was observed; -numbers of projectiles were thrown down also unon the railroad stations at St. Quentin and Voyennes; the barracks at Liancourt-Fosse, the railroad rail-road station and barracks at Guis-card, Guis-card, the railroad station at Tergnier and on certain buildings south of Chauny. |
