Show G30 VXD -WATER INVESTIGATION' STARTS IX BEAVER VALLEY A study to determine and eval ate ground-water conditions a::J the ground- and surface-water surface-water relationships in Beaver Valley was sfarted July 1. 1973. The work is being done by the Water Resources D;visi:n of the U. S. Geol gical Survey in cooperation with the Utah Department De-partment cf Natural Resources, Division cf Water Rights. The-study The-study will continue for three years and the results will be summarized in a published report re-port issued for public use. Specifically, th studies will be aimed at det.rmining: (1) source, location, amount, and means of recharge and discharge; dis-charge; (2 m; vement of ground wa'er; (3 amount of ground wa'er in stciage, amount being withdrawn, and amount recoverable; recover-able; and (4) effects of pumping from wells on natural groundwater ground-water discharge to streams and directly to Minersville Reservoir. During the investigation well owners, well drillers, public officials, of-ficials, and others will be interviewed. inter-viewed. Information about water wa-ter levels, chemical quality, geology, ge-ology, and other ground-water related data will be collected and evaluated. Pumping tests will be made to determine storage stor-age and permeability character- ' . istics of the aquifers, and the effects of pumping from wells (n water levels in the area and on discharge from springs. The study, which is intended to enable the State Engineer and local water managers and users to better administer and use the water resources, is being made by Reed W. Mower, of Salt Lake City, Utah. |
