Show Council Takes Care Of Routine Business A pretty routine meeting of the City Council, which is unusual un-usual in itself, was held last Monday with a fire at the airport air-port right at 8:00 p.m. taking this reporter out of action for the first half hour. The fire burned only weeds, and no damage was reported. Council discussed the survey of abandoned cars, which will be taken and the cars will be picked up and hauled to the dump where a crusher will be operated. Persons wishing to be rid of an old junker should contact con-tact Councilman Hardy or one of the local policemen. Discussion was held on the huge expanse of lawn to be taken tak-en care of south of the library and the Council was asked to consider selling several lots off of the south end of the library park. Considerable discussion over the installation of sidewalks and curb and gutter by property owners was brought about by a letter from Jim Briggs asking that the street sign on 300 W, 200 S. be moved to another corner cor-ner so as not to interfer with installation of a new sidewalk. Council emphasized that a property prop-erty owner needed to submit plans and get grades before attempting at-tempting to install curb and gutter. gut-ter. They also should be certain of th:ir property line. A letter from Bill Bruhn of Dept of Community Affairs discussed dis-cussed the possibility of low income in-come housing in Milford. He was invited to come before the Council Coun-cil to explain more. Editor Wilson reported on the meeting with Dist. Engineer Alex Mansour and the Businessmen's Business-men's Assn. He requested that the Council issue a formal invitation in-vitation to Mr. Mansour for him to meet with them to discuss their problems. The Council dismissed a number num-ber of small matters and adjourned ad-journed at the early hour of 10:30 p.m. |
