(Bud l Harris arrived early Monday morning from Europe, receiving his honorable discharge at Fort Douglas. He left St. George with the 115th Engineers Engin-eers in March, 1911, and has served both in the Pacific and in Europe. ft n n Pvt. David Rogers is home from Fort Lewis, Washington visiting with Mrs. Rogers and their children and his mother Mrs. Geneva Pogers. Unless he can get his furlough extended he will return to Fort Lewis Dec 24. W fil M Lt. and Mrs. E. J. (Ted) Simmons Sim-mons arrived Saturday from San Francisco, Mrs. Simmons, the former for-mer Margaret Mitchell having gone there to meet her husband on his arrival from overseas. They visited for two weeks with Mr. and Mrs. Don Carlos Schmutz in San Francisco before coming to St. George. Lt. Simmons is in terminal leave pending discharge. Ka E3 pa Henry Was There Serving aboard the destroyer, USS Marshall, when she was part of Task Force 58, was Henry E. Beuhn, FlC, of Hurricane. The "Mighty Marshall", now on inactive status, took part in the invasion of Hollandia, Saipan, Guam, Tinian, Rotea, Pelileu, Anguar, Leyte and Okinawa and in the Battle for Leyte Gulf. She was also in on the strike against Tokyo, Kyushu, Formosa and other Jap-held islands. to a Home For Keeps Home from the sea, not just for Christmas, but for keeps, are Jampi Andrpw Holt PhMlC. and Richard R. Mickleson GM3C. Mr. Holt is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Holt of Gunlock and husband of Hilma Esplin Holt of St. George. They have a small son who is plenty excited over having his Daddy home. Mr. Mickleson is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Mickleson of St. George and has been on the sea most of the last three years. M PS 1 Magic Carpet One of the 2,000 high-point navy veterans whom the "Magic Carpet" returned to the U S aboard the "West Virginia" is Richard E. Jensen Y3C, USNR, son of Nels P. Jensen of St. George. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor, and reached the U S Nov. 29. pa Pa PB Three Looeys Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Woodbury Wood-bury had their three airmen sons, all Lieutenants, home last week. I Lt. Alma Woodbury had a brief 'stopover with his wife and daughter, and other family members, mem-bers, enroute from the airfield at Childres, Texas, to Williams Field, Chandler, Arizona. He has enlisted enlist-ed for further service. The other two boys, Lt. Edward Woodbury and Lt. Lo-Raine Lo-Raine Woodbury are home, Edward Ed-ward on a 45 day leave and Lo-Raine Lo-Raine with his discharge button. A fourth brother, Marvin is still overseas with the U S navy. |
