Show Services Held for Aged Mother i : ' ' . - t ' I I . - ",V t - ! - ' . . - . ! r -i I : v Mrs. Matilda Olson Erickson Funeral services for Mrs. Matilda Olson Erickson, 89, were held in Grantsville Friday in the First ward chapel, by McCoy Johnson, bishop. Mrs. Erickson died Wednesday Wednes-day morning in a Salt Lake hospital hos-pital of causes incident to age. Mrs. Erickson, a former resident of Grantsville, lived at Sutherland in the early 1920's when the family farmed there. She was born June 5, 1861 in Gem county, Sweden, a daughter of John and Mia Kiza Olson. She came to the United States at the age of 16 as a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints. She married Elof George Erickson Erick-son in the old Salt Lake Endowment Endow-ment House in August, 1882, and they lived in Grantsville where their children were born. After being be-ing in Sutherland they had returned return-ed to Grantsville before Mr. Erick-son's Erick-son's death in 1925. Mrs. Erickson wafs an active LD S member in Grantsville First ward most of her life. For the past six years she had lived in Salt Lake City. Three years ago she fell and broke her hip and had been in poor health since. Surviving are two sons, George Erickson at Grantsville, and Norman Nor-man Erickson at Sutherland; two daughters, Mrs. Muriel Welton of Fresno, Cal., and Mrs. Anne Lyons, Salt Lake City; 21 grandchldren, and 23 great-grandchildren. All of her children attended the services. Burial with in the Grantsville Grants-ville city cemetery. |
