Ben and Diane Mathews and their family went to Montana last week to attend funeral services serv-ices for her mother. They returned home Friday. The Junior Prom held Friday night was a gala affair, as usual. I was surprised to learn how many members of the junior class are from Cannonville. Almost enough to make a full class including Amanda Turner, Gina Nelson, Rosa Lee Thompson, Marty McCormick, Mathew Walker, David Mathews, Jacob Moss, Raphael Morreale and Shawn Stubbs. A.C and Rita Hammer met their daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Brett Poole and family fami-ly of San Clemente, Calif, as they were enroute to LDS General Conference. The Poole's son, Jonathan had just returned two days previously from serving two years in the Merida Mexico Mission. His great desire was to be able to attend Conference. Jim and Erma Clarke attended attend-ed the baptism of their granddaughter, grand-daughter, McKenzie Clarke, daughter of Arthur and Annette Clarke in Las Vegas, Nev. They returned home Sunday. Jim had to go to Salt Lake City for his six-month check-up with the cardiologist on Friday. There were able to get tickets for the Sunday afternoon session of Conference. Jim and his son-in-law, Joseph Salas also attended the Priesthood General session on Saturday evening. They stayed with Joseph and Debra Salas and family in Layton and also visited family members Dee and Joan Barney and family fami-ly in Salt Lake City. Mae Twitchell went to Cedar City and stayed with Karl and Lori Munford's children while their parents went to Farmington, N.M. to participate in the Jeep Rock competition. Mae was also able to visit sons, Craig and Doug and their families fami-lies and her granddaughter, Cherlynn Twitchell while there. Matt and Cathy Fletcher went to Salt Lake City for LDS General Conference weekend. Cathy, Gail Fletcher of Provo; Carol, Brett, Sara and Jonathan Poole of San Clemente attended the Saturday afternoon session while Matt and Ryan enjoyed the sights of Temple Square. Matt, Bryce Fletcher of Provo, Brett and Jonathan Poole were able to attend the General Priesthood session while the girls and Ryan took advantage of the chance to shop. A fabulous fabu-lous time was had by all. Rosie Fletcher spent the weekend here with her mother, Marva Fletcher and they watched LDS Conference together. It is kind of sad that we wait six months for the next one and in two short days it is over with another six months to wait. |
