Show Heat Program Application Period Extended The application deadline has been extended for a program that helps low-income and elderly elder-ly Utah residents pay their winter win-ter home-heating bills. The final day to apply for the Home Energy Assistance Target (HEAT) program is now Apr. 30, an extension of one month. An infusion of additional federal funds and the large number of applicants over the fall and winter win-ter have prompted the longer application period. The number of households seeking help from the HEAT program is expected to exceed last year's record of 32,031. Application information is available by calling toll-free 866-205-4357 statewide. Salt Lake County residents may call 521-6107. HEAT helps low-income and elderly people pay their winter home heating bills by making a one-time payment directly to utility companies. HEAT is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered in Utah by the state Division of Community Development. |
