Bob and Juanita Smith traveled trav-eled to Salt Lake City to attend the Saturday afternoon session of LDS General Conference with their family. That evening they were honored at a family dinner at the Maddox Steak House in celebration of their Golden Wedding anniversary. The family will host an open house for them on Saturday evening Apr. 19 from 4 to 6 at the Panguitch LDS 2nd3rd Ward Chapel. March was an eventful month for Norma Talbot. She traveled to Cedar City to hear her grandson's LDS mission report. He (Jay) is the son of Art and Mary Talbot. Norma wasn't feeling too well during her visit sodecided to see a doctor. She found that she had pneumonia and spent four days in the hospital. hospi-tal. Her doctor was Tom Marshall (Monte and Cleo's son) and her nurse was Alisha Hatch (daughter of Janice and the late Steven Hatch). Norma said it was almost like being home. Following her hospital stay, she attended a going away party for another grandson, Mitch Talbot, as he prepared to leave for spring training with the Houston Astros. Mitch is also Art and Mary's son. Norma is now home for a while but plans on returning to Cedar City where her daughter will be set apart as Relief Society president of the LDS 20th Ward. ; Donna Barney sent me word that she and Larry have a new branch on their family tree. Kris and Kristi Barney (Colorado Springs) had a new baby boy named Kolben come into their family. He has a 3-year-old brother Karston waiting to welcome wel-come him home. This newaddi-tion newaddi-tion gives Larry and Donna seven handsome grandsons and five beautiful granddaughters. Great-grandmother Mary Perkins was also excited to hear the good news. . Mary now has 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Riley Miller, Henrieville. called to inform me that his brother-in-law Richard (Dick) Gibney, Clearfield, recently passed away and Riley attended the viewing on Apr. 3. Richard served in the Navy during WWII and worked at the Clearfield Depot for 39 years. His wish was to be cremated and the family is granting his wish. A military funeral will be held at a later date and anyone wishing to attend can call (801) 825-8560 825-8560 to get the date and time. Riley and Virginia are the children of Dell and Myra Miller (deceased) and the family lived here in Panguitch for many years and all of their four children chil-dren attended PanguitchGarfield High School, Arden, their oldest son, lost his life in an accident while his class was gathering scrap metal during WWII. Lucille Bridges passed away a short time ago. Tanya Thomas traveled to Salt Lake City to take care of grandson Thomas Kelly Hailstone while his mom and dad, Hollie and Kelly, were at the hospital to welcome his new brother Wyatt Wade into the family on Mar. 14. Wyatt checked in at 8 pounds 7 ounces, and was 20-12 inches tall. Grandmother Sandy Hailstone, Hail-stone, Panguitch, great-grandmother, Gai Moored St. George, and aunt, Jacie Thomas Reber were thrilled to welcome Wyatt into the family. Jacie and her three daughters just returned from a month's stay in Hawaii. Tanya's nephew, Evan Thomas Wilcock will graduate from Southern Utah University May 3 with a bachelor of science sci-ence degree in communications with an emphasis on broadcasting. broadcast-ing. Evan was nominated for the Thunderbird Award and is the son of Evan and Penny Wilcock of Cedar City. Lee Greenwood and his band stopped in Panguitch today. They are on their way to Lehi for a concert and needing a break, they pulled, their two busses pulled onto the driveway of Thomas Auto. Tanya got to visit with Lee and he gave her an autographed picture. She in turn gave him one of her autographed auto-graphed air brush ink prints. Lee is the guy who sings, "God Bless the USA". Last week's Garfield County News reminded me that I need to thank Kelly Lee, Cindy Stewart, Elaine Baldwin, Lori Talbot, DeAnn Gillies. Deanna Moore, Louise Holman, and my wife, Evalyn, for making the cookies which were served to the TARS and guests at the Republican County Convention. The young folks really appreciated appreci-ated them.
