Lee Williams spent a few days in the hospital with a bleeding ulcer. He says he was glad to get that taken care of and to get back home, llene Gerloff came from Sierra Vista, Ariz., came to help out while her father was incapacitated. Lee and Kathleen both appreciated , that. Florence Alvey was taken to-1 the hospital by ambulance after she took a fall down her basement base-ment steps. She will probably be stiff and sore for a while but she and Melvin are with their daughter, Lucinda Duncan in Cedar City and should be home by the time you read this. Hal Shurtz called from St. George to tell me that his son ' Kerry is with the troops who are ' going to Camp Carson, Colo., aiid will probably be deployed from there. He also said he attended a birthday party for ' Ruby Griffin in St. George. It ; sounded like half of Escalante met at Chuek-A-Rama to honor Ruby and have dinner with her. (Happy birthday Ruby!) Hal had been reading about Lewis ' Griffin's missionary grandsons ' and says he has had a bunch of missionaries in his family too! One of them is Doug Huntington, son of Stan and ' Valerie Huntington, Cedar City, ' who is just returning from an ' LDS mission to Russia. He also said to tell everyone in Escalante "Hello" and he misses Escalante a lot! ' Lane Liston was taken to Panguitch by ambulance. They sent him on to Richfield for tests, then back to Panguitch. He had blood clots in his leg and both lungs. I talked to him on the phone and he sounded good. Said he felt good, but was all hooked up to monitors, etc. Geraldine and granddaughter, Emily Clark of Cannonville, were with him and his son Gary Liston flew in from St. Johns, Ariz., to be with him too. Pratt Gates has gone back down to Zion to work this summer. sum-mer. Former resident Rudger Shurtz passed away last week. He was married to the former Valora Moyes. His interment was in the Hurricane cemetery. Jon and Jillyn Sorensen and family, Salina, spent the weekend week-end here with Klyn and Marlene Haws. Ryan Cottam, Orem, Shondelle and Elisa Cottam, Cedar City, all spent the weekend week-end here with their parents, Brent and Patrice Cottam. There was a light on at the home of Evan and Lois (Griffin) Reeves last night. t ', Ben and Renee Porter are : moving back from Provo for the summer. '. Gene and Thais Griffin are 1 home from Mesa, Ariz., so maybe they have started the flight of the snowbirds "Home To God's Country!" No other reports, so everyone else must be getting ready to put a few tomato plants in the ground. |
