Show FIRSTCLASS PURITY Examination of City Water by Chemist Chem-ist Harms Shows Gratifying Condition The chemical and bacteriological examination ex-amination of city water as made by City Chemist Herman harms IG completed com-pleted and the water pronounced of llrstclasa purity The samples submitted sub-mitted for I analysis were taken from the I mains at points oCgencral distribution distribu-tion I on the 11 I Hi of the month being those of the City creek high line and the mains supplying the business and southeast and southwest parts of the city cityThe The report of the chemist shows a striking likeness between the two samples sam-ples analysed The sample from the high line shows 1H972 grains of solids per United States gallon consisting chiefly of sodium chloride chlorine 0817 grains free ammonia 0010 parts per million albuminoid ammonia 001F parts per million oxygen consumed lGO purls per million The other Ham pIe has a fraction less than two grains per gallon more than the aboye shows the same quantities of free and albumi noid ammonia and has 220 parts per million of oxygen consumed The bacteriological examination shows a low number of bacteria present pres-ent none of these being of a pathogenic character Gelatine fluidifying bacteria were absent In both oamples This Is gratifying In view of the alleged cases of typhoid fever resulting from the use of city water At no time since the prosent city chemist has conducted tho examinations has there been found any pathogenic bacteria In the city water |
