Mrs. Nellie Planigan of Cedar City is visiting her sister, Mrs. Wm. Ruesch in Hurricane. Bishop O. D. Gifford and son Jesse of Springdale, were business visitors here Monday. J. D. Hopkins of Cedar City was here last week looking after sheep interests. in-terests. Forest Tate of Mt. Carmel was a business visitor here the first of the week. . There was some real competition between be-tween the third and fourth years last Wednesday in the 440 yard relay race. The fourth years won with Beatty first, S. Thompson, second,, and P. Imlay third. Robert Woodbury who has just returned re-turned from a six months mission to Florida, entertained us in Sunday school and afternoon meeting with incidents in-cidents of his mission and gave a splendid description of the country which he had visited. The high school students under the direction of Karl Larson, are working work-ing hard on the operetta, "The Daughters Daugh-ters of Mohammed," which they will present next Thursday night. It has been reported as being one of the best ever presented Tjy the school. Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Woodbury returned re-turned home Thursday night from Salt Lake City. Mr. Woodbury has completed com-pleted a short term mission in the southern states. Practically all the time was spent in Florida and he speaks very highly of the beauties of that country. Mrs. Woodbury attended conference in Salt Lake. j John Warren of Los Angeles is a j j visitor in town this week. J Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Mrs. Walter Workman is in Salt i Lake City visiting her parents, Mr. and ! Mrs. Ira Millet. The L. E. A. R. club met at the I home of Mrs. Mary Stout last Thurs-' Thurs-' day for their regular meeting. Miss Velma Wright is home again ' after spending some time in Salt Lake City and other northern points visiting visit-ing relatives and friends. Mrs. Wealthy Gibson was entertained entertain-ed at a "kitchen shower" Tuesday eve- ning, April 10, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. N. J. Workman. Many beautiful and useful gifts were received and a delicious lunch was served. A very enjoyable en-joyable time was had. The regular monthly married people's peo-ple's social was held Monday night. Mrs. Ruesch's dramatic art class presented pre-sented two one-act plays at 8 p. m., which were followed by a dance which was well attended, but turned out to be anything but a married folks' dance. Mrs. John Wood returned last week from Salt Lake City where she has been visiting at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Angus Ballard. Quite a number of the farmers are taking advantage of the school milk tester which is used in connection with the course in dairying which is being given this winter. By having their cows' milk tested they can tell which of the animals is bringing in the profit. pro-fit. The operetta, "Pioneers' Papoose," was presented by the seventh and eighth grades last Friday and Saturday Satur-day nights. It was under the direction direc-tion of Elvis B. Terry and was a great credit to the director as well as to the school. It brought out very unexpected un-expected talent and it was rendered in such a way as to be a real treat. |
