OCR Text Traffic Signal Does Away With Policeman A traffic signal with ears Is the newest new-est device which may further simplify the solution of the traffic problem. It Is the invention of Charles Adler, who recently demontrated Its practical use. Motorists will be able to control traffic traf-fic themselves vrith the aid of the new signal device. The sound of the automobile auto-mobile horn, ten feet distant from the signal, affects the "ears," which Charles Adler Experimenting Further With His New Invention. are metal boxes resembling radio microphones. mi-crophones. When the approaching motorist toots his horn the "ears" transmit the sound and cause the red signal to change to green long enough to permit him to pass the intersecting road. After a sufficiently long interval, inter-val, the light changes again to red until another customer comes along and sounds the horn.
