Show MURDER SHOUTS IS THEORY OF VAN DINE "Murder" is the strongest word in the English language, according to the man who has made profitable use of it, S. S. Van Dine. He points out this even when spelled backwards it has a menacing meaning, then it becomes be-comes "red rum," and hints of violence vio-lence and passion. Van Dine is the author of one of the most successful series of mystery-detective stories ever written. Three of them have been filmed the latest being "The Benson Murder Case," which will show at the Victory theatre, starting Thursday for 2 days. William Wil-liam Powell again plays the part of Philo Vance in "The Benson Murder Case." So convinced is Van Dine that the word "murder" has a gripping significance signi-ficance for everybody that he has incorporated in-corporated it in the title of every one of his novels. He is now reported to be at work on another "murder case" to follow "The Benson Murder Case." |
