Show OUR TICKET. From Sunday'6 Daily. We invite the attention of all good citizens to the Democratic ticket, in Utah county, which floats at the head of this column. We believe that every elector should be proud to cast a ballot with those names printed upon it. The nominees are all able and representative representa-tive men. Most of them have held positions of trust in the past, and have all acquitted themselves honorably and ably. Da. Pike, the nominee for representative represen-tative to the legislature, lias grow n up with Utah, lie is well and favorably known throughout her borders. Whatever What-ever he lias put his hand to, has. .prospered.' .pros-pered.' Commencing with a small practice and without reputation as a physician he lias outstripped rivals and now stands at the head of his profession. pro-fession. Since the establishment of the Territorial Asylum he has been medical medi-cal superintendent, and has conducted its affairs to the satisfaction of the people of Utah. He has demonstrated his ability and worthiness, and his experience, ex-perience, is such as to well fit him for the position of Representative. The name of Hon. W. II. King stands foremost among Utah's brilliant advocates. advo-cates. Though young, he has already-made already-made a reputation that will make him a historical figure in Utah's history. He has twice served the people peo-ple in the Legislative halls distinguishing himself for his oratorical pow ers, his brilliancy and general ability. abil-ity. Besides this lie has filled several local offices in Millard and Utah counties, coun-ties, and is now the aide prosecuting attorney of Utah county and Provo City. Mr. J. D. Ikvixe, of l'aysou, the j nominee for Representative from the Twelfth District, has been a railroad man for several years, serving the Union Pacific Railway with satisfaction. satisfac-tion. He lias distinguished himself wherever ho is known as a bright man, and one representing a phase of our interests that should be found in our Legislature. George Cunningham, the Representative Represen-tative from the Seventh District, has been a prominent figure in Utah county for many years. He has served the people of American Fork in different capacities, and they have lately called him to the head of their city government govern-ment to serve as their mayor. Being a man of practical experience and sound judgment, he is a good nomination for the position. The county ticket is also made up of strong men. John Joxes, of Spanish Fork, is a gentleman of practical" business busi-ness abilitj-. The people of Spanish Fork long ago recognized his business qualifications and called him to the superintendency of the Co-op. store in that city, and that business has prospered pros-pered like magic under his hands. He lias been twice elected mayor oi the city, and for two years has served the people of this county as a member of the County Court to which lie is now to be returned. Mr. Ahee J. Evans, of Lehi, is a young man w ho has been prominent for a few years past, and is known to be a solid, strong man. He was elected Mayor of Lehi at its last election, and is known to he a man of stering worth. Mr. E. A. YViEsox, who is to serve Utah county for the next two years as superintendent of her schools, is a young man who lias grown up in our j midst. He has proven himself to be a tower of strength. Commencing in one of our primitive schoolrooms to teach the rudiments of the English language, lie has made his way up, until to-day we find him recognized as one of Utah's leading scholars and authority on school work and school metkod whose valualbe suggestions our leading professors pro-fessors delight in quoting. As an alderman al-derman in Spanish Fork, he exhibited traits of unusual legislative ability at an early age. So engrossed did he become be-come in a love for legal lore, that he reluctantly stepped out of the pedagogue's peda-gogue's chair and entered the legal arena, where we find him to-day, bat- tiing with his compeers for honors. Mr. ! Wilson is also a member of the board of directors of The Dispatch Publishing Publish-ing Company. He is a staunch Democrat, Demo-crat, and a "true blue." The nominee for coroner for the lin- ; expired term, Mr. Thomas Beesley, j has met the ups and downs of life, and been successful in whatever he has undertaken. As postmaster of Provo during Cleveland's administration,! ! he was at his post and found doing his ! duty at all times. j We say the Democrats have a staunch ticket. It is composed of young men, j middle aged men, oldish men, men of ! different and wide experience, but all ! men of distinguished ability, and in every sense representative men of the ! people. And, better than ail, in fact I that which embraces all. they are each ' DemocratJ.and will work for the great-; great-; est good to the greatest number, equal I rights, and fair field and no favors. |
