Show GOSHEN ON TOP. HerlJetter Element In the Dom- f ocratic Ranks j How two Political Plag-iarists Steal Senator Sena-tor Horr's Speech to Dish Tp in tlie County. Goshen, Utah. July 20. Special correspondence of The Morning Dispatch. Dis-patch. The people of Goshen aro ; greatly elated over the railroad bo""" built through here; they recoge' benefit it will be to them; - ' 6 ways, especially mTCgaTn'TTtnfcit m.ui. as also traveling and shipping facilities. facil-ities. A brass band has been organized here, and are now in training, so as to be able to play at their jubilee when ' the "iron horse" shall first appear ia their midst. The hay crop is the best for a number of years, and the fields with their wav- ing grain promise an abundant harvest. f Fruit-raising has been quite a difficult diffi-cult problem here, the soil containing so much clay and alkali being pooriy adapted to tha industry, but the people, peo-ple, with the regular western enterprise, enter-prise, have conveyed the rich moun- ' tain soil to their lots, planted trees therein, and are this year being repaid re-paid for their great trouble, by seeing their orchard trees bend with their wei ht of good healthy fruit. Arbor Day was surely observed here, as the sehoolhouse has been surrounded ; by a neat lumber fence, within which a great number of trees have been planted. This was a much needed improvement. im-provement. The Republicans held forth last night and succeeded in getting a few members mem-bers enrolled. With the exception of two or three (of the few) the Democrats are perfectly satisfied that thev joined the G. O. P. instead of their party. A Mr. Tingley, of American Fork, arid a Mr. Huish, of Pay son, spoke, or rather tried to repeat word for word, what Senator Ilorr said, without giving him the credit. What do you call this, Mr. Editor? Plagiarism. The worthy gentleman from American rorK, in reierring 10 trie heautitul (?) 5 Republican country, "with its schools, I fine homes and church spires rising above the trees," that Mr. Ilorr spoke of, forgot the nice word "rising" and said "sticking" above the trees." If Mr. Ilorr had been here he would have blushed to hear a brother trying to repeat re-peat his speech and making such an ungrammatieal mess of it. Mr. Huish might have given Mr. Horr the honor (?) of saying, "God have mercy on their souls." if the gentlemen believe in protection, as they say they do, they should put a little protection on their tongues in regard to the name of God, that woid being used by them eight times during their speeches. Perhaps they are afraid that lie will bring down some punishment upon them for their oppression of the people by their unjust tariff tax, that they think It host to continually con-tinually call upon His name. Mr. Tingley told the audience what a great protection the (lag was while Grant was President, and that our glorious emblem em-blem was nothing but a rag while Gmver Cleveland was President. We defy him to prove it. The people got so tired at the end of the second act that they rose en masse to leave before the remaining two speakers sot a chance to exhibit their elocutionary powers, making Chairman Turncoat (W. Ercanbrack) feel quite chagrinned. With a few exceptions the better element ele-ment here have gone Democratic. The old folks were given a grand party Friday night b the young ladies of this ward. After supper the timo was spent in dancing.' singing ami reciting. All went home well pleased with their out. Trump, tramp, tramp. The trumps are marching By the dozens through this littie quiet town. Two of our young men, who cannot see very far ahead of thena through the path of life and happiness, have started a saloon to lure other young men down to destruction. The Dispatch is greatly appreciated here. m. |
