She graduated from Timpanogos High School last year and is pursuing pur-suing an associates degree in science at Utah Valley State College. Shalon has participated in show and chamber choir and a cappella choir. She plays the flute and piano and is taking voice lessons. In high school, she was listed list-ed in "Who's Who Among American High School Students." Shalon's goals include becoming a midwife and serving a mission for the LDS Church. She will perform a vocal number for the program. KARA I1ANEY Kara Haney, 19, is the daughter of Jack and Carole Haney. She graduated graduat-ed from Mountain View High School in 2001 and is a biomedical engineering major at Utah Valley State College. She has received extensive exten-sive training in violin, piano and voice. In high school, Kara graduated from Medical Academy, was academic all-region and played girls basketball when MVHS won the state and national championship in 2001. She also served on the Orem Youth Council and is a volunteer for Project Read. She would like to become an orthopedic orthope-dic surgeon. Shalon Gibbons Bethany Moore ALEXIS MACNEILL Alexis Michele MacNeill, 20, is the daughter of Martin and Michele MacNeill. She graduated from Friday Harbor High School in 1999 and will graduate from Brigham Young University in August with a bachelor's degree in history. Alexis has taken classes in ballet, as well as Scottish highland dancing. In high school, she was state champion cham-pion for highland dance. She was Volunteer of the Year at Utah Valley State College and received a bicentennial bi-centennial scholarship at BYU. Alexis would like to attend medical school and eventually go into politics. She will perform a dance at the pageant. CAMILLE MAHLUM Camille Mahlum, 18, is the daughter of Steven and Carol Mae Gessel Mahlum. She will graduate from Timpanogos High School this year. She plays the flute and has been involved in school a cappella choirs and show and chamber choir. Camille also enjoys running, reading, read-ing, writing, tending children chil-dren and being in the outdoors. out-doors. She has been on the High Honor Role, passed the A.P. KHRISTEN MILLECAM Khristen Millecam, 18, is the daughter of Kevin and Sherri Millecam. She will graduate from Timpanogos High School this year. Khristen has been on the High Honor Roll for four years. She lettered in family fami-ly and consumer sciences and was a member of a cappella cap-pella and show and chamber cham-ber choirs. BETHANY MOORE Bethany Moore, 18, is the daughter of Carl Mom and Shirley Esquerra. She will graduate from Orem High School this year. Bethany has several years experience in Native American dancing, jazz and hip-hop. She participated in the opening ceremonies for the 2002 Winter Olympics as a spotlight dancer in the Native American section. She plans to attend Utah Valley State College, then Southern Utah University to earn a degree in dance education, so she can teach from home. Bethany will present a dance for the pageant. REBECCA NELSON Rebecca Nelson, 19, is the daughter of Richard and Marilee Free Nelson. She graduated from Mountain View High School in 2001 and will graduate from Utah Valley State College this month with an associates degree in information systems. She is a member of the International Thespian Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society. Rebecca is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa and the International Honors Society at UVSC. She enjoys singing and reading. Rebecca will transfer to Brigham Young University to earn a bachelor's degree in history and humanities. She will perform musical theater at the pageant. ASHLYN SMITH Ashlyn Smith, 19, is the daughter of Ty and Joani Johnson Smith. Camille Mahlum Amber Tippets ; University. She has had 15 years training in several types of dance, including tap and ballet. She has also had experience in musical theater the-ater and vocal training., Ashlyn has taught dance for more than five years. She also enjoys singing, swimming, drawing and sports. In high school, she was named Sterling Scholar for dance. She is now working towards a bachelor's degree in dance education. Ashlyn will perform a dance solo for the program. AMBER TIPPETS Amber Tippets, 19, is the! daughter of Mark and Wendy Tippets. She gradu-; ated from Mountain View' High School in 2001 and is' pursuing a bachelor's degree in illustration at Brigham Young University.' Amber has had lessons in piano, dance and art. In high school, she received a' four on the A.P. art exam, and an art Reflection: Award. She enjoys cake decorating, fishing and drawing, as well as tennis and ice-skating. She loves eating Thai food and spending spend-ing time with family and friends. Amber will present an art display at the pageant.
