The company desires to foster understanding between German and American high school students stu-dents in an effort to maintain main-tain the positive relations between Germany and the U.S. This June, 16 Meridian School students and three chaperones will participate partici-pate in an exchange program pro-gram to Germany. Meridian School has been participating in the GAPP (German American Partnership Program) since 1990. This exchange program is partially funded fund-ed and supported by the Goethe-Institut InterNationes, New York City. The program arranges exchanges between German and American high schools for a period of three to four weeks at a time. The program pro-gram hopes to foster understanding and expose students to another culture cul-ture and life. Each year, thousands of GAPP exchange students nationwide focus their stay on school life, family life and sites of the area. Students stay with host families, who typically have sent their students on an exchange. Students are required to spend a minimum number of days visiting their host school and being a part of classes. Meridian School is one of only 11 high schools in Utah who participate in the program.
