Show AT THE LATHAM MINE mr E severance engineer for the latham mining company operating in elko county nev who is in the city on a business and pleasure trip combined speaks very highly of the physical condition of the companas comp anys property and is of the opinion that it is destined to develop into a heavy producer and regular dividend payer at the present time mr severance says fine ore bodies are blocked out in the mine ready for extraction for treatment by the newbill newmill new mill now in contemplation while in the workings 1 of the property there are stored tons of ore which will be hoisted to the surface as soon as the reduction works are in commission this ore will average 23 per cent lead 35 per ceni copper and 95 ounces in silver to the ton and this is a very fine mill product at the present time supt bupt B D H osborne at the latham is giving employment to a force of eight men the smallest ever employed at the mine but 15 men will be at work in its operation and development next month mr severance brings with him the news of an important disclosure in the group of three claims adjoining the latham owned by J B E malett and his partner a mr wiseman these gentlemen began the sinking of an incline on a two foot vein and at a depth of 50 feet have opened an ore body five feet in width that assays essays from 60 to 70 per cent lead and 70 ounces in silver to the ton the beauty of the discovery being that this ore body is steadily gaining in size with increasing depth this is really a good shipping ore and may be marketed in this mine ther are also large quantities of a good grade of milling ore which in all probability will be treated at the latham mill when he plan is complied comp leed in regard to this mill the mining review is informed that it is the intention to have the plant ready for operation about the first of the year the equipment of the works will consist of rolls crushers and a 60 horse power gasoline engine together with tables the plant to have a crushing capacity of tons daily in the milling practice the company will use the dry concentration tables manufactured by the national pneumatic company in which snider catrow and others of salt lake are interested A unit of five of of these tables has been ordered and other units will be added until the plant has reaches its full capacity experiments with this dry concentrator have been eminently satisfactory and when the mill is in running order it is believed that it will be found th atthe process is a complete success |
