Show HEAVY SHIPMENTS FROM TONOPAH ever since the completion of the tono pah railroad a large amount of ore has been shipped from this nevada camp goldfield and surrounding districts most of which has found its way to the smelters shelters sm elters in salt lake valley and it is stated that the tonnage would be much larger if the railroad only had more for the accommodation of freight cars this defect however will soon be remedied when the ore con sign ments from tonopah will be larger than ever the tonopah miner in commenting on the ore shipments for the week says there has been great activity at the tonopah railroad depot this week in an effort to handle the ore which I 1 is being delivered for shipment to the smelters shelters sm elters since monday morning tons of bulk ore has gone forward from the mizpah dump the shipments of ore in sacks aggregated tons the greater part of which came from goldfield the montana tonopah forwarded sixty tons which have gone to the smelter this week from the big company the southwestern nevada mines company has tons of ore awaiting shipment and this will go forward as soon as the spur track is completed to the montana on whose ground the ore is stored there are about tons of goldfield ore on the depot platform and this will go forward today and tomorrow it is expected that the shipments next week will reach tons a day the miner also says that quincy mining company which was recently organized by J C gladden and associates of salt lake to operate a group of claims near crow springs this week received returns from a carload of ore which was shipped to the salt lake smelter about a fortnight ago the returns showed a total value of a ton of which 1640 was in gold 19 ounces silver and 52 per cent lead there is a 4 foot ledge of this grade of ore and tile the prop erty is rapidly developing into one of the best shippers in this part of the state mr gladden went out to the mine wednesday with an additional force of men and it is the intention of f the management to increase the force as rapidly as development work will permit joseph arthur who has had many years experience in the silver lead mines of utah is superintendent of the quincy and the property is showing splendid results under his able management |
