Show ON THE MOTHER LODE mining conditions in stateline Stat eline district continue to improve and from a gentleman just in from this promising camp the mining review learned that considerable more attention than usual is being paid to properties clearly in the belt exclusive of the main properties of the camp such as the johnny the creole and the ophir included in the list being groups on the wil louvale low vale crown point and free coinage ledge which is understood to be the mother lode of the district which is covered by the three properties above mentioned as well as the sunflower on the north and the si silver I 1 standard on the south the free coinage is now sinking a foot shaft on the ledge which from a width of two feet on the surface has widened to six feet at a depth deith of 35 feet the present depth of the mine workings this work is being done by contract by henry hedges of milford who is a horse whim an average sample of the ore assays essays 4 to the ton in gold and values are increasing with depth the free coinage is one of the first claims located in the stateline Stat eline district the location being made by george rice after whom rite rice mountain was named the present showing in this mine is most satisfactory to its owners of whom mr hedges is one the free coinage adjoins the johnny mine and the margaret J B smithson of stateline Stat eline has just completed the sinking of a 60 foot shaft on the crown point from the bottom of which a drift has been run both ways north and south on the vein which presents one of the most perfect hanging walls to be found in any mine the shaft is sunk on the vein and is all the way in ore which measures about four feet in iii width on the 50 foot level the values running up to 12 hornings from the ore from the crown point reveal long ong strings rings st of the yellow metal the mine is owned by mr smithson john ryan of milford and H B prout of salt lake at the creole of which W H webber is manager the shaft hp has been sun sunk k to F a depth of feet and drifting is now the order of the day at a point in the drift 60 feet from the shaft a nice body of gold ore has been encountered the extent of which has not as yet been determined the creole is the first gold location to be made in stateline Stat eline and has produced considerable ore some of which was shipped to salt lake the balance being milled on the ground the johnny in which ha has been considerable exploratory work of late on the foot level broke into a fine body of good milling ore a few days ago |
