Show THE promontory OIL FIELDS interest continues unabated in the oil asphaltum deposits on the promontory on the north shore of the great salt lake and the utah oil liquid asphalt company ot of ogden which is operating in this promising field has adopted a novel method for the recovery of the product of its wells in this locality an outline of which has been given in previous issues of the mining review in brief the company has installed a boiler at one of its wells at the bottom of which at a depth of feet a steam colt coil has been placed a pipe from the boiler conveying the steam to the coil by the utilization of this method the asphaltum oil becomes so liquefied that the flow has been increased the experiment resulting in a production 1 of from to gallons of 1 01 oil 1 1 daily an analysis of which shows 54 per cent asphaltum and 43 per cent illuminating and lubricating oils of the finest quality the experiment has proved so successful that it is quite likely that the company will place coils in other nearby wells when the asphalt oil will be produced in commercial and paying quantity the produce to be refined on the ground by means of an oil still jesse J driver of ogden one of the prominent men of that city who are mica ested in this enterprise conducted an excursion to the promontory on the which was participated in by ogden and salt la people who were more than pleased with the companas comp anys holdings and with the favorable outlook for the ultimate outcome for this enterprise 0 |
