In an expansion of the Armys Voluntary Recall Program, the office of the Army Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel has begun screening the records of these retirees and will ask many of them to return to active duty for two years. Those who accept will serve at one grade higher than the one they held at retirement. ODCSPER officials stressed that the recalled EM .will make up a special increment of Army manpower and will not effect current active duty personnel in any way, including promotion opportunities. In addition, spot promotions will be given to enlisted men now on active duty who have both the critical MOS skills and more than 20 years of service. The needed skills are in the Engineer, Ordnance, Medical, and Signal Corps areas, ODCSPEK officials said. Only retirees and under are eligible to be selected for recall.
