Show "The Woman's Touch" GOSSIP This week I would like to write about something that is done constantly but never by you or me. It's done by everyone every-one else, A very good definition defini-tion of this is putting two and two together and coming up with five. I'm not talking about bad arithmatic but gossip. It's a cheap six letter word that ) can destory ones reputation, turn friend against friend, and most times hurt the gossiper more than the person he is trying try-ing to hurt. When someone tells you a juicy piece of gossip try this on them: just ask the proof in every case; just ask the name, the date, the place; and if he says he only heard, declare you don't believe a word. If this thing called gossip is true of everyone but you, then tell the gossiper, who whispers in your ear, the good that's in the person they are trying to destroy. Start some gossip of your own. Say something sweet about their victim even if you have to make it up. It won't hurt you j any to say a few kind words in their behalf, but it would if " you helped spread the dirt and add to it. Some of that dirt might rub off on you, no matter what the amount. So remember, show the gossiper the best side of the person and your best side too. That way you can be sure you won't be on their list in the next round, HEARSAY In every town, in every street, In nearly every house you meet A little imp, who wriggles in, with half a sneer and half a grin, and climbs upon your rocking chair Op creeps upon you anywhere; And when he gets you very near, Just whispers something in your ear, Some rumor of another's shame, and little "Hearsay" is his name, You understand this little elf; ! He doesn't say he knows himself He doesn't claim it's really true; He only whispers it to you Because he knows you'll go and tell Some other whisperers as well; And so before the setting sun He gets the devil's mischief done, And there is less of joy and good, Around your little neighborhood. |
