Show f BOX New coordinator leaders voice Bible Week support Calling the scriptures a treasure of wisdom, inspiration, and practical suggestions for more abundant living, the first presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints has pledged its full support to National Bible Week, Nov. Senior citizens attending Friweekly luncheon at the Brigham City Community center will have an opportunity to meet the new Box Elder county coordinator for senior pro- grams He is Dallas Stiver who only recently was named to the post by the Box Elder County com- 23-3- In a prepared statement to all U.S. members of the 3.5 million member church, the church mission. In his new job, Stiver will coordinate d projects and other needs for seniors and retired persons in the coun- leaders noted that "America continues to be shaken by rising crime, widespread permissiveness, and the breakdown of far and too many marriages homes. Stiver was formerly safety director for Thiokol corporation at Wasatch division, retiring from that position. He is a resident of Brigham ' Embroidery City and an active Shriner, having served several times m recent years as chairman of the citys annual Golden Spike and Beautification parade. In addressing the local area seniors Friday, Stiver will give information about goals set for the countys senior program in addition to safety tips in your every day living. Despite the hazards involved in launching a business, many are doing so these days. Some of them, desirous of being oa, their own, are giving up their jobs and the security of a weekly paycheck to make the move. Others, who have been out of work for some time because of the depressed economy, are taking the step in the hope of improving their situation. These entrepreneurs combine whatever they have in the way of savings and whatever they can borrow and make the big move. Some of them buy existing businesses and others start brand new ones Most Popular More than half of them get into retail operations or franchises of some sort. Grocery stores and restaurants are most popular, followed by a variety of service businesses. The chief requirements are small initial investment and low overhead. According to the latest Commerce Department statistics, there are some 1,250 residents of Box Elder county who are making their living from their own businesses or professions. The first is money. There should be enough of a cushion or reserve fund to carry on for a considerable time, since few of them are profitable in the early stages. In addition there must be a knowledge of the business, a willingness to work hard and the ability to avoid serious mistakes .
