Show Funds Sought For Natural Water Shed A $143,000 loan has been asked of the government in an estimate, submitted to the state, to develop the natural water sheds in American Amer-ican Fork canyon, by a central irrigation ir-rigation board composed of John A- Wagstaff, American Fork; Virgil Vir-gil H. Peterson, Lehi, and Edward Jeppson, Pleasant Gove. Engineering Engin-eering work will begin as soon as the weather will permit. This program will take care of the water problem in the northern section of Utah county in drouth seasons, as well as give a good supply sup-ply of water all the year round and will benefit 12,000 people, according to reports- The work will include six projects: proj-ects: Z. Hill reservoir, $655,000; Silver Sil-ver Flat, $40,000; Sawmill Flat, $20,-000; $20,-000; Silver Lake Extension, $15,000; Pittsburg Lake completion, $2,500, and Forest Lake, $500- These sites will be turned into reservoirs when the work of excavating, dam building build-ing and piping is completed- According Ac-cording to the plans, the six streams will meet at some place above the power plant, thus providing an equal stream of water for power all the year round-Work round-Work on the Pittsburg Lake was started last fall from September to November, and $1,600 of FERA funds were spent. A drainage ditch and a dam were .partly built, besides pipe purchased that has not yet been used. o |
