Show Reception Honors Young Couple The marriage of Miss Naomi Gaisford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Gaisford, Jr. of this city, and D. R. Norton, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Norton of Provo, was solemnized in the Salt Lake temple Wednesday. The ceremony was performed per-formed by President Stephen L-Chipman L-Chipman of this city, a member of the presidency of the Salt Lake temple-Both these young people are well known here and their many friends are showering congratulations and best wishes for a happy and prosperous pros-perous future. They will make their home in Provo- A wedding reception was tendered the young couple by the parents of jthe bride and groom Wednesday night in Fixmage hall. About four hundred friends and relatives attended. at-tended. The reception hall was beautifully decorated with baskets of snapdragons snap-dragons and sweet peas, and floor lamps. In the receiving line were Mr. and Mrs- Gaisford, Mr- and Mrs. Norton and the bridal party- The bride was charming in a floor-length gown of pink silk and maline and carried a shower bouquet bou-quet of premiere and briar cliff roses and lillies-of-the-valley. Attending At-tending her as maid-of-honor was Miss Louise Hart of Salt Lake, attired at-tired in a frock of blue silk crepe. The bride's maids were Miss Merle Norton of Provo, and Miss June Holmstead of this city, each of whom wore gowns of pale yellow organdy. The attendants each carried car-ried bouquets of sweet peas- Two diminuative attendants in the persons per-sons of Miss Reta Powers of Lehi, and Miss Joan Knight of Salt Lake, were attired in twin frocks of pink organdy and held baskets of flowers- Ronald Norton, brother of the groom, acted as best man. A program was given during the evening with Clarence A- Grant acting act-ing as master of ceremony. Following Follow-ing were the numbers: Songs and dance numbers, little Miss Jenee' Baird. ' accompanied by Miss Lydia Olsen; humorous reading, Miss Bessie Bes-sie Newman; songs, "Tab and Bun", (Messrs- Grant and Shelley), accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. Shelley; scnti-n'.clitS, scnti-n'.clitS, Eisriop T. A- Greenwood-Dancing Greenwood-Dancing was enjoyed before and after the program. The fUUsic was furnished by members of the Apollo were served in the basement during the evening. The young couple was presented with many handsome gifts, which were displayed in one of the side rooms- Miss Fern Greenwood, Mrs. Raymond Adams and Mrs. Howard Nelson were in charge of the gifts-The gifts-The guests were received at the door and conducted to the cloak room by Mrs. Gien Taylor, Miss Maxine Briggs, Miss Nelda Davis and Miss Betty Halstrom, and Misses Miss-es Madeline Robinson and Mildred Greenwood took charge of the wraps. The refreshments were served by Misses Mary Walton, Irene Jones, Lucile Bird, Maxine Taylor, Jean Holmstead, Virginia Holmstead and Rose Adamson of this city; Misses Ruth Jones and Clarice Lar.sen of Lehi, under the direction of Mrs-Clarence Mrs-Clarence A. Grant. The guests upon departing were presented with small pieces of wrapped wedding cake by little Misses Irene Shelley, Carma Meredith, Mere-dith, Ruth and Elaine Gaisford- ' |
