Show The birthday of Joseph W. Anderson Ander-son last Friday night was the motif for a happy family gathering at his home arranged by Mrs. Anderson. Relatives from Pleasant Grove and this city were present. A hot supper was served. Lttle Miss Lucile Booth, daughter of Mrs. Lillian C. Booth, is ill with rheumatic fever. She is much improved, im-proved, though yet confined to her bed. Mrs. Glen Boley was hostess Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon of last week to the Deltha Dames Club at her home. Two tables of bridge were played, Mrs. John Varney winning the high score prize. A dainty luneh was served. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hansen were in American Fork from their home in Monticello, Utah, the forepart of the week, called here by the death of Mr. Hansen's brother, Leslie, which occurred suddenly in Los Angeles. They came to attend the services held Monday. Last Thursday Mrs. I. L. Pratt entertained en-tertained the members of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans Volunteer Firemen at Canyon Hall in Salt Lake. The afternoon was spent in quilting, following which a tasty supper was served. There were thir-ty-sevan present. Mr. Lund was threatened with a bad case of pneumonia but is responding re-sponding nicely to treatment and is out of .danger. John Brown, who has accepted a call to labor in the Swiss-German mission, left Monday for the mission home in Salt Lake for a preparatory course 01 training. Mr. urown leaves the forepart of March for his field of labor. Dr. P. M. Kelly, of St. Anthony, Idaho, formerly of this city, and who is closely acquainted with this young missionary, will be the new president of that mission. The Ladies Literary Club will meet next Thursday, March 7th, at the home of Mrs. William Thornton with Mrs. Abe Gudmundsen as the assisting assist-ing hostess. The program of the afternoon is to be centered around an Irish theme suggestive of St. Patrick's day and will be furnished entirely by members of the club. All members are asked to be in atten-1 dance. Last Friday night Fire Chief and Mrs. I. L. Pratt and their guests, Mr. and Mrs. Moral D. Steele and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Christensen, were in attendance at the annual Washington Washing-ton Birthday party given in Salt Lake by the Veteran Volunteer Firemen's Fire-men's Association and auxiliary. The party is an annual reunion, and a banquet, program and other festivities festivi-ties were enjoyed. Mrs. Ray D. Nicholes delightfully entertained at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Nicholes on Saturday evening last, for a number of her Arizona friends who are attending the B. Y. U. The guest list also included in-cluded others. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. . Guy Lund, Clarissa Ashcrost, Iretta Eagar, Mrs. Clyde Ennis, Wayne Ennis, Miss Margaret Ennis, Gordon Lesueur, Provo; Mr. and Mrs. Victor W. Nicholes, Lehi; Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Nicholes of this city. A hot supper was served at 7:30, following which a program of games, instrumental music and singing sing-ing was enjoyed. Prizes in the games were won by Mrs. Rulon Nicholes and Guy Lund. ., |
