Kunich 3tSth TFW public affairs Significant changes for wing-leve- l operations are Force continues Air as its the coming quest for eco- more practical ways of doing business, Air A name change to the 3SSth Fighter Wing Tues- day is just the first of several major changes that will take place within the unit, according to Lt. Col. Bob cently. Although the 368th Tactical Fighter Wing is a tenant unit here, it won't be exempt from these changes. It's one of many units that will feel the fects of the tightening of the budget belt. " T , mm V " ' " ' ' ' i : Gilloth, assistant deputy commander for maintenance. "These changes are designed to add efficiency and economy to our operation. People who fight the war will be aligned together and those people who support the war will be aligned together." Gilloth is referring to the deactivation of one squadron, the merger of two others, and the activation of two new squadrons, scheduled to take place Dec. 1. Also under this plan, there will no longer be wing deputy commanders within the 388th. Instead, there will be an operations support group, commanded by Col. Timothy A. Mueller, current deputy commander for operations, and a logistics support group, led by Col. Frank J. Prewitt, current deputy commander for maintenance. Other functions will fall under these two groups. For example, the current deputy commander for resource management, Lt. Col. Gary Wilkins, will take charge of the new logistics support squadron in the logistics support group. "A site activation task force is scheduled to arrive at Hill before Nov. 1 to give their guidance and help us through these changes step by step," said Gilloth. "Tactical Air Command is going to use our proposed reorganization plan as a basis for other TAC tenant units in the Air Force. "It's not going to be easy and everyone is going to feel the effects of the reorganization, but the people in the 388th have always worked as a team and this will be no exception. Our success in this reorganization depends on everyone working together." ' ! Hands on A1C Michael Dunbar, left, and SrA. Ronald Williams tear down an engine in the 388th Component Repair Squadron.
