Show Wednesday, September 27, 2006 B7 Vernal Express 5-mile Dry Fork Fun Run held v- T a yf I Students practice with Kali Sticks. Martial Arts students receive black belts By Sarah Forsgren Express Writer On Sept. 16, the Unbroken Circle Integrated Martial Arts school held a seminar and promotional pro-motional dinner. The seminar began at 1 p.m. Special guest Grand Master Anderson taught students using Kali Sticks. These sticks are especially made for martial arts. If one tried the moves with regular wood sticks, the sticks would break. Master Anderson taught the students how to use the sticks to block hits and take someone down. He taught the students first with no sticks, then with one stick, and finally with both. He walked among the students as they practiced and showed them how to better their skills. At 5 p.m. there was a dinner din-ner and several students were awarded black belts. Mitch Halsell received his 7th Degree Black Belt, and Lane Miller received his 3rd Degree Black Belt.
