Show : BOARD LAUNCHES AN DUMPING OF TRASH DUMPING-GROUNDS WILL RE PROVIDED AND LAW ENFORCED That the town Hoard of Trustees' vi!l rigidly enforce the law against pumping of trash in unauthorized . places, was determined at the last board meeting which was held Thursday, Thurs-day, March 15. Marshal Roy Coleman Cole-man was authorized to arrest all per- ; sons guilty of violating town ortlin- I ances in this respect, and stiff fines j were recommended to be meted out to offenders. The board will also urge that county action be taken j against people who litter up the countryside with rubbish. The board was not fooling in thi respect, and all members present expressed ex-pressed themselves in no uncertain tones. It is believed that about ten or twelve families are responsible for Mie trash being dumped promis-cously promis-cously in town. The queer part of i: all is that a 'more holy than thou' attitude is taken by these people when warning is served repeatedly, and one anil all they express themselves as unreservedly in favor of the law taking tak-ing a hand. So that's just what the council decided to do. A great deal of the T-sent annoyance will he eliminated this summer with the employing of n man and team to keep the town clean, is to people driving out a little distance dis-tance and throwing stutf alone" the road, it was agreed by the Board that hey could do little against the parties, par-ties, but it was suggested that the matter be called to the attention of he county board. Frank Farmer and M. P. Lew's were appointed as the committee to make the recommendations as to the ite of the clumping ground. Leslie Clay suggested that this site be staked off and marked with a big sign which could not he pulled up by people overcome by the instinct of p'ay, and the idea was acceded to. Some of the dirty town lots were mentioned with the owners names, and Marshall Coleman was told to make these people clean up their premises. The only other matter of importance impor-tance brought up at this meeting was broached by Mr. Clay, when he advised ad-vised some work on the streets, par-t'culnrly par-t'culnrly in regard to the larrge hole on Main street n"ar th? Flat Iron li'!lc!insr. Mr. Clay stated that he had spent some time personally m fl'ling up this hole with gravel, hut that his efforts had not been successful. success-ful. He asked, and was promised, the town's assistance in fixing up this bothersome spot. Members present at the meeting were Clay, Farmer, Murdoch, City Clerk Lewis, Marshal Coleman, ' and Water-master Kronholm. In the absence ab-sence of President Hubbell, Clay presided. |
