Show HUGE VEIN OF ORE LOCATED LAST WEEK AT MAGNOLIA MINE SMALL FISSURE LEADS TO SILVER AND LEAD STRIKE EXTENT UNKNOWN The strike at the Magnolia mine which occured last week, has hoen sounded out sufficiently since then to Rive indications of being one of the biggest finds near here in recent years. A vein of lead and silver ore has been found which measures one hundred feet by fifteen feet by ten feet. That much is certain; the deposits de-posits have not been sounded out to their fullest extent even yet. The ore body is now being opened up to very satisfactory proportions and has been measured to the dimensions dimen-sions given above. How far the lay of ore will exceed these dimensions is not fully determined. The lead and silver is a first-class shipping ore; in fact, it is a premium ore. This find should be of much im-oortance im-oortance in showing a permanent mineral zone from the north end of the Star district to the far south end. a distance of seven miles. It should instill confidence among mining men as to the possibilities of this district, and should ultimately result in a great many more of our promising prospects being more fully" developed. Atinv nrnnprf are now heinc- con sidered, one of the more promising of which seems to be the re-opening of the Croft mine near Minersville. This mine has been temporarily shut down. The Magnolia mine is situated thirteen thir-teen miles southwest of Milford. For the past six months, it had shown only fair prospects. About three weeks ago, a fissure of ore was discovered. dis-covered. It was a very small one, but in following it through, the strike was made. The first indication was a vein only two or three inches thick. Since the ore has been found, Superintendent Super-intendent A. C. Nebeker has thoroughly thor-oughly sounded out the extent of the lay. He said that he has cut in at enough places to see what they have out there, but declares he does not yet see the limits of it. The Magnolia mine is an entirely-underground entirely-underground operation. Laterals at the levels of two hundred and four hundred feet lead out from a vertical verti-cal shaft. The ore there is taken down by teams to Laho, where it is loaded. Since the first indication of .he strike, ore bins have been provided pro-vided at the mine, and it has been -.veil equipped to take care of the increased in-creased output. Most of the capital in the Magnolia nine is outside money, having been brought in from the East. |
