Show Andrew M. Seitz Accidentally Killed By Electricity Tues. Limb Falling On High Power Lines Leads to Electrocution of Power Company Official VEYO, Utah. Bishop Andrew Seitz, 32, was instantly killed at 10:40 a. m., Tuesday, June 8, when he accidentally came in contact with a high voltage wire of the Southern Utah Power company at Pinto. Mr. Seitz was trimming a tree on the power company right-of-way in his capacity as manager of the Enterprise division of the power company. With him. and assisting him in the work at the time of his death was Glen Leavitt, his brother- inlaw. in-law. Mr. Seitz was in the tree cutting branches and Mr. Leavitt was on the ground pulling them down with a rope. They had cut and lowered one branch, which hit the power line and fell off, previously. The branch that caused caus-ed his death is said to have fallen across the three high tension wires carrying a load of 33,000 volts. When it hit the line Mr. Seitz is reported to have called to Mr. Leavitt and told him to pull it down. Mr. Leavitt did this and when he looked back up he saw that Mr. Seitz had slumped down against his safety belt. He immediately im-mediately tried to get him down but he was too heavy and had to get assistance. ' Previous to cutting the limbs, lhe two men are reported to have discussed the need for having the wer shut off while doing this ,rk but since the tree was approximately ap-proximately ten feet from the line, hey decided to go ahead. This is the main line running from the power plant at Veyo to Cedar. To shut off the power they would have had to call Cedar and the Enterprise district would have ten without power during the lime the line was off. For this j reason he decided not to. According Accord-ing to Mr. Gardner there are only three trees in that division that are close enough to the line to require trimming. Reed Gardner, manager of the power company was immediately informed and left with a doctor. When they arrived it was too late to help Mr. Seitz. Following this Mr. Gardner and the doctor went to Veyo to break the news to Mrs. Seitz and render assistance, since she is an expectant mother. The j baby has not arrived at this time. I Conduct Inquest Information brought out at the inquest failed to reveal whether' the branch hit the tree or whether it contacted his body.
