Show Three Hundred Register For Swimming Instruction Sponsored by Red Cross Three-hundred have registered to1 date for the Red Cross swim campaign to be held in the Washington Wash-ington pool from June 14 to 19, under the auspices of the Washington Wash-ington county chapter, Mrs. Kenneth Ken-neth Cannon announced today. Fifteen more cards are available for those who are over eighteen years of age. All of the lower groups have been filled. The committee com-mittee in charge urges those in the older bracket to take advan- j tage of this instruction. They feel that these older people would benefit ben-efit by the lessons just as much as the younger groups. This remaining re-maining group will be given instruction in-struction between the hours of 6 and 7 p. m. All those who have registered are requested to see Mrs. Cannon next Friday, at which time she will inform the swimmers at what time they are to meet the bus. The bus will leave from the Tabernacle Tab-ernacle corner. "It will be necessary that everyone every-one cooperates and accept willingly will-ingly the hour assigned. Red Cross instructor, in-structor, who will conduct the swimming and life-saving campaign cam-paign here, is a water-safety specialist. spec-ialist. He went in for aquatics at the age of six, earning in succession Tied Cross Junior and Senior awards. He ,has been enthusi- astic about water sports ever since. For the past ten years he has been active as an instructor in boys and girls camps in Oklahoma, stress having been placed on this program with 4-H groups in rural areas. Mr. Hoskins has had additional training in the Red Cross water-safety water-safety program at Red Cross Aquatic schools held at Bellevista, Arkansas; and at Como Springs, Morgan, Morgan county, Utah. Having made swimming a hobby in his youth, the swimming instructor's in-structor's field of educational activity ac-tivity made such a strong appeal to him that he has since made it his profession. |
