John Adam Coopeb is the youngest veteran of the Mexican war, having enlisted at the age of twelve. He is also the pioneer horse-car driver of San Francisco, haying' been in the business twenty-nine years. A. F. Pakkeb, a street-car conductor in Oakland, Cal., who took part in the march with Wolselay across the desert to Khartoum, to relieve Stanley, is the fortunate possessor of two medals for bravery on the battlefield, one given by the queen, the other by the khedive of Egypt. |
