Show FINALE AND MINING I The Big Option on the Rich Centennial Cen-tennial Eureka ORE AND BULLION OUTPUT Lead Goes Up but Silver Declines Enconras In I News From all Utah JUntor Districts Dis-tricts A Great Showing Business during the week past has been very fair that of the last two days was reported as an improvement over the same period of a week ago and sotno of the merchants mer-chants seen yesterday attributed this to the increased temperature which has caused a demand for summer goods articles arti-cles that previously could not be worn with any great degree of comfort There Is little if any improvement in the money market As indicated in Tun HERALD during the week considerable eastern money has come in which is being placed on real estate at 9 and 10 per cent and the sign Money to Loan which had been withheld from the public gaze for sometime past is seen oftener than of yore The realty market is comparatively quiet yet among the sales recorded during the week were many of note The CeniennlaKEnreka Deal That there is more than mere rumor In the alleged sale of the CentennialEureka will be apparent in a very short time now True it is that the mine has not yet been sold but there is a goodsized option on the property and its transfer to tho French syndicate for 3000000 is just about assure as-sure as anything can be that has not happened Mining experts who have examined ex-amined the property say 53000000 is u small figure for the mine as there is good reason to believe there is at least 0000000 worth of ore in sight It will probably be thirty or sixty days before the deal will be definitely decided It is given out on the best of authority that the next dividend to bo declared on the 15th of Julywill be 2 It Will Boom Tintic The assurance now made doubly sure that the Tintic Range railroad will bo constructed con-structed and in operation by the first of next year is bound to give a wonderful boom to mining throughout tho district and directly or indirectly everybody will share in the added prosperity and progress this enterprise will bring to our midst In connection with the new railroad if a favorable price of silver shall obtain and certainly the prospects are that it will then Tintic district so favorably located with rich ores and dry mining should set the pace for the mining boom that we believe is in store for Utah in the next twelvemonths twelve-months The new railroad will give us direct di-rect communication with Denver Lend yule Aspen Ouray and other prominent promi-nent points in Colorado it will bring the men here who have money and who believe in going to the deen when they once have a good prospect and a reasonable certainty of a pay mine and the men who built np Denver Leadville and other cities will not be slow to grasp the opportunities presented pre-sented to them in such a rich and kindly formation as the great limestone district of Tintic Miner Lead anil Silver Lead has shown a decidedly upward tendency ten-dency during the week Opening at x435 it advanced to 445 then to 450 closing at that figure last evening Silver has declined some but still manages man-ages to keep above the xl mark It opened at SL02 closing at 100i Trade in the East While crop reports continue remarkably favorable say R G Dun S Co the volume vol-ume of business at present transacted is not as large as it has been in other years at this time This is in part because excep tionally hot weather at many points has induced in-duced something like midsummer dullness but the more important cause undoubtedly is that trade in many branches has been waiting for certainty of Improvement and definite orders before undertaking new risks There is also some hesitation owing to recent failures particularly in Philadelphia Phila-delphia Credits have been cautiously given in the woolen and the boot and shoe trades and this has lessened the volume of transactions Hence it is encouraging to find that there is actual improvement in the demand for consumption in several of the more important trades and that manufacturers manufac-turers already begin to feel the effects Crop prospects have greatly improved during the past week particularly in southern south-ern and northwestern regions where there lad been lack of rain and there is now scarcely a single commercial center from which the crop reports are not highly favorable fa-vorable At the Banks The ore and bullion shipments made by the various banks of the city for the weekending week-ending Juno 27 1891 amounted to S1oo OSG26 as against 0520727 shipments for tho week J1COOS6 38 Reviving Interest In JUnes There are signs of a decided revival of interest on the part of the investing public in mining property This is particularly noticeable in England English capital has recently purchased some of the most prominent mining property prop-erty in tho United States and Canada English financial journals are filled with matter regarding mining properties allover all-over the world Many companies are being organized there to acquire and operate mines and the public is a ready subscriber to most of these schemes Of course a great many of these will come to grief for they are organized with thc idea only of getting the subscribers money But this movement in the direction of mining investments has gore much further than the swindling operations of professional > mining company organizers some of the most substantial capitalists have turned attention in this direction and are acquiring properties of unquestionable value Mining operations today have lost much of the charm of uncertainty that used to hang about them and are now on the same solid foundation in many respects that an ordinary manufacturing enterprise is In working the low grade ores it is simply a foregone conclusion that a ton of ore will produce so many dollars worth of mineral and the profit can oe closely calculated lated In connection with this revival of interests from the financial standpoint its it-s also interesting to notice that recent cent discoveries of rich ore have led to tho opinion that we are likely to have another such mining excitement as was seen in ISiS and 1S79 when Leadville came into being There is a stream of prospectors making their way toward what is known as Deep Creek region of Utah Old miners who lived through the exciting times of Virginia City and Leadville are dreaming of another boom The condition of affairs has changed greatly in the west since those days how ever and a repetition of just such a time as t j > i i those old miners remember is now almost impossible Denver Financial Yeic Business Failures The business failures occurring throughout through-out the country during the past seven days as reported to R G Dun S Co number for the United States 224 and for Canada 29 or a total of 253 as compared with a total of 244 last week and 224 the week previous to the last For the corresponding correspond-ing week of last year the figures were 199 representing ITS failures in the United States and 21 in the Dominion of Canaaa NEWS FROM THE JUNES At the office of Mr Hanauer the week was
