Show 1 Newton. NKWTON, May liO. Last Wedri'sdny evening the. Newton choir gave a surprise, on its lcadei. Amos Clarke, and presented pre-sented him with a line arm chair. Tho owning was spent with picnic, pic-nic, idaneing. etc. Mr. ('large has been leading our choir thirty-eight thirty-eight years and has always been on time at meetings, and practices, prac-tices, being very faithful in his calling. Our ward conference was held wsterdny. Thete were present of the High Council, Elders Rawlins, ..jid Wiser of Lcwlston, and a full I'-prcvitation tT the ward. The wan' was reporli'ti in good ootid'-tion ootid'-tion by Bishop M. C. Rigby; nil (Uoruiiis and organizations rep-sented rep-sented by the various presidents, etc., arc in fair condition. The visiting brethren imparted good counsel and instructions to us. 'nil a good time was enjoyed. A ((tinrtett by Jessie Cooley and company, "Hark, Hark My Soul.' ,wa3 .well rendered. A qunrtctt tendered by Miss S. Jones nnd company, entitled, "It Is Well Kith My Soul," was beautifully rendered. The choir r-'iidered their beautiful selections better than over before, and tak it all in all. it was a great treat to our people.
