Show Camp Gives Party For Departing Men ! " I Members of C. C. C. Camp Cahill i at "Waw Waw springs entertained Friday evening, September 29, at a party in honor of the Utah men who have resigned to accept other positions posi-tions and also for the departing Virginians. Vir-ginians. The entertainment consisted j of a special dinner, after which there was a short program and dance. Speakers of the evening were T. Sapia-Boschj, camp commander, Dr. George Stewart of the forest service, and First Sergeant Cahill, who accompanied ac-companied tha Virginia boys to Utah ?arly in May. While we regret very much their leaving us, we feel that these Utah and Virginia men have gained something while here and that they will be able to better themselves in thedr new undertakings. Although we have enjoyed their brief sojourn here with us, we assure them that j the fine spirit which prevailed then ! will still remain. Early Saturday morning preparations prepara-tions were being made for the Virginia Vir-ginia boys to board the noon train at Milford, bound homeward. The camp car and other private cars escorted the departing boys to the train and a large crowd of Milford's citizens was on hand to bid them bon voyage. The expression on the faces of the boys seemed to indicate that they would have liked to have stayed a lit- tie longer, but Virginia seemed to be calling them bacl. The camp supplied them with a large box of fruit and other eatables and, as a personal present, the camp commander supplied sup-plied each with a carton of his favorite fav-orite cigarettes. The afternoon of Saturday, September Sep-tember 30, was a busy one for members mem-bers of Camp Cahill. It was spent in re-enrolling its members for an additional ad-ditional six months an the Civilian Conservation corps. Of the 190 men now enlisted, approximately 25 have ben granted a discharge. Members who have re-enlisted will in all probability prob-ability en. rain to winter camps the latter part of October. Mayor 0. F. Hubbell and a number of other business men of Milford wera guests of the camp commander, Friday, September 29. In company with Dr. Stewart of the forestry department, de-partment, they visited the works of the C. C. O. Camp Cahill which have been going on since last May. We feel that the work that has been accomplished ac-complished on each of the two projects, pro-jects, including the building construction con-struction and many miles of fence work, has convinced them that the C. C. C. men and the forest sendee have given a satisfactory account of themselves them-selves for the time they have spent in the conservation work. |
